WooCommerce AIIntegration

Extend a WooCommerce store with AI features delivered as lean plugins or external services, without bloating WordPress or exposing customer data.

WooCommerce AI Integration: what the work involves

WooCommerce owners value control, and also inherit the maintenance. A catalogue grown over years has duplicate products, missing attributes and uneven descriptions. Pre-sale questions arrive through contact forms, support relies on one person's memory of the policies, and each AI plugin installed from the directory adds more scripts, more database load and another place where customer data travels without much oversight.

DevKey takes a restrained approach. Heavy processing runs in a separate service that talks to WooCommerce through its REST API and webhooks, so the store stays fast. A small custom plugin adds the admin screens and the storefront widget. Features include bulk product enrichment with a review screen, an assistant that answers from live product and policy data, and smart replies for support. API keys, rate limits and logging are managed centrally, and merchants approve content before it is saved.

What we build

Core features

01

Bulk enrichment with review

Product titles, short descriptions, categories and attributes are generated in batches, previewed side by side with the originals and applied only when approved.

02

External AI service architecture

Model calls happen outside WordPress, keeping page speed intact and letting you change providers without rebuilding the plugin.

03

Shopper assistant widget

Visitors can ask about sizes, compatibility, delivery and returns and get answers drawn from your products and policy pages.

04

Variation and attribute cleanup

Messy variation data is normalised into consistent attributes, which improves filtering, search and feed quality.

05

Support and review replies

Draft replies for contact forms, order notes and product reviews are prepared for staff to edit and send.

06

Usage and cost dashboard

Admins see requests per feature, token use and failures, with limits that prevent a runaway bill if a bug loops.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Plugin conflicts and updates

WordPress sites combine many plugins, and WooCommerce changes its internals over time. We follow platform standards, test against your active plugin set and a staging copy, and document upgrade steps.

Customer data leaving the site

Sending orders or reviews to an AI provider has privacy implications. We send only what each feature needs, strip personal details, and describe the data flow so you can update your privacy policy.

Cost per request

Bulk generation and always-on chat can become expensive. We choose smaller models for routine tasks, cache repeated questions, and set budgets and alerts per feature.

WooCommerce AI Integration FAQ

Common questions, answered

Why not install an AI plugin from the directory?

Some are fine for simple needs. We build custom when you need your own rules, tighter data control, integration with other systems or want to avoid several overlapping plugins slowing the store.

Will this slow down our store?

Not if designed properly. Heavy work happens off-site, widgets load asynchronously, and admin batches run in the background. We test page speed before and after, and we treat regressions as defects.

Can it work with our current theme and builders?

Usually, through shortcodes, blocks or a script-based widget. Heavily customised themes may need extra styling work. We check compatibility on a staging copy before touching the live store.

Can we use a local model instead of a hosted API?

Yes, for tasks like categorisation and drafting, using an open model on a server you control. It needs hardware and tuning, and quality may be below top hosted models, so we compare on your catalogue first.
