Fitness AppDevelopment

A training app that guides each workout, logs progress without friction and keeps members paying because they can see themselves improving.

Fitness App Development: what the work involves

Most people abandon a fitness routine within weeks, and gyms feel it as churn. Members forget their plan, trainers answer the same questions over chat, and progress lives in a notebook or nowhere at all. A generic tracker does not know your classes, your trainers or your style of coaching.

We build an app around your programme. Coaches assign plans made of exercises with demo clips, sets, reps and rest timers; members log each session in a couple of taps, even in a basement gym with no signal, and results sync afterwards. Class schedules, bookings and memberships sit in the same account. A subscription layer handles trials and renewals on both stores, and a coach console shows who has gone quiet.

What we build

Core features

01

Plan builder for coaches

Trainers compose weekly plans from an exercise library with video, then assign them to one client or a whole group.

02

Workout logging with rest timer

Members record weight and reps per set, with an automatic rest countdown that keeps running when the screen locks.

03

Progress charts and photos

Strength trends, body measurements and optional before-and-after photos show change that the mirror hides.

04

Class booking and check-in

Members reserve a spot in a class with capacity limits and a waiting list, and check in by QR at the door.

05

Membership and subscriptions

Plans, trials and renewals are handled through store billing or local payment, with freeze and cancellation rules.

06

Coach chat and check-ins

Weekly check-in forms and a message thread let coaches adjust plans and spot members drifting away.

What we get right before launch

Subscription rules on the stores

Selling digital workout content inside iOS and Android apps normally requires store billing, with its commission. Physical gym memberships follow different rules, so we separate the two before building payments.

Health data and wearables

Reading heart rate or steps through Apple Health or Health Connect requires explicit permission and a privacy policy that matches what you collect, or review will fail.

Video content weight

Exercise videos can swamp mobile data and storage. We stream adaptively, let users download a week of workouts on Wi-Fi and keep the app usable offline.

Fitness App Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can members book classes and pay for memberships in the same app?

Yes. The booking system reads your timetable and capacity, and membership status controls what a member may reserve. Payment can run through store billing for digital plans or a local method for in-person memberships.

Does it connect to smartwatches and step counters?

It can read steps, workouts and heart rate from Apple Health and Android Health Connect after the user grants access. Device-specific cloud APIs from other brands are possible but depend on their partner terms.

Can I sell my own workout videos?

Yes. Videos are hosted on a streaming service, gated by subscription status and downloadable for offline use where licensing allows. We advise on store billing rules for paid digital content.

How do trainers keep track of many clients?

The coach console lists clients by last activity, flags missed sessions and keeps notes per person, so coaches spend time on the people who need attention rather than scrolling through chats.
