Automated ReportGeneration

Have weekly and monthly reports assemble themselves from live data, complete with charts and a plain-language summary ready for a quick review.

Automated Report Generation: what the work involves

Recurring reports eat time in a predictable way. Someone exports from three tools, rebuilds the same charts, rewrites the same commentary with new numbers, and emails a PDF that is outdated by the time it is opened. Agencies do this for every client each month, and managers read the result in thirty seconds. The effort is out of proportion to the decision it supports.

DevKey builds a report engine that connects to your data sources, runs the queries you agree on, and renders the result in your template as PDF, slides, email or a live page. Charts and tables come from code. A language model then writes a short narrative from the computed figures, noting the biggest changes and open questions. The report waits in a draft state for a named reviewer to edit and release, then goes out on schedule to each recipient.

What we build

Core features

01

Template-driven layouts

Reports follow a design you approve, with brand styling, section order and per-recipient variations stored as reusable templates.

02

Connected data sources

Ads platforms, analytics, accounting, CRM and databases are queried directly, so nobody exports and pastes figures by hand.

03

Charts and tables from code

Figures are computed by queries and drawn programmatically, which keeps every report consistent and reproducible for any past period.

04

Drafted narrative

The model summarises movements and flags anomalies using only the supplied numbers, and shows which figures each sentence relied on.

05

Review and release step

A responsible person edits the draft, adds context the data cannot know, and approves before anything is sent to a client or director.

06

Scheduled distribution

Reports go by email, shared folder or chat on a timetable, with a history so you can reopen the version that was sent.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

A fluent summary can still be wrong

Models sometimes over-explain a trend or invent a cause. We restrict narratives to computed facts, run a check that every quoted number exists in the data, and label causal claims as suggestions.

Metric definitions must be agreed

Two teams may mean different things by a conversion or an active user. We write the definitions down first, because automation will faithfully repeat whichever version you give it.

Client confidentiality

Agency reports mix data from many accounts. Access is scoped per client, generation runs in isolated jobs, and no client's figures are included in prompts for another.

Automated Report Generation FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can reports look exactly like our current ones?

Usually close enough that recipients barely notice. We rebuild your existing layout as a template, and complex bespoke designs may need extra effort. Share a few recent examples and we will point out anything awkward.

Which tools can feed the reports?

Most platforms with an API or export, such as Google Analytics, Meta and Google Ads, Xero, QuickBooks, HubSpot and SQL databases. We confirm access and data limits for your accounts during scoping.

Is the written commentary reliable?

It is a draft built on supplied numbers, checked for figures not present in the data. It cannot know offline events, so a reviewer adds context. We never send commentary unreviewed unless you explicitly choose that.

Can clients get a live dashboard instead of a PDF?

Yes. The same data layer can power a shareable dashboard with login. Many clients prefer both: a dashboard to explore and a short report to read.
