Financial ReportAutomation
Replace the monthly copy-paste marathon with a pipeline that builds the pack from your ledgers and drafts variance commentary for a finance lead to approve.
Financial Report Automation: what the work involves
At month-end, a finance manager exports trial balances from accounting software, pastes them into a workbook, fixes broken formulas, and then writes the same paragraph about why marketing spend rose. Directors wait for numbers that are already stale, and one hidden manual overwrite can undermine the entire pack. The effort grows with every new entity, branch or currency.
DevKey builds a repeatable reporting pipeline. Data is pulled from QuickBooks, Xero, Odoo or a database on a schedule, mapped to your chart of accounts, and checked against control totals. Statements, KPI tables and charts are generated in the format your board expects. A model then drafts commentary by comparing the period with budget and prior months, citing the ledger lines behind each statement. The finance lead reviews, edits and releases; nothing goes out unreviewed.
Core features
Scheduled data pulls
Ledger and sub-ledger data are fetched through accounting APIs or database connections, eliminating manual exports and the version confusion that follows.
Chart-of-accounts mapping
A maintained mapping table groups accounts into the lines on your statements, with alerts when a new account appears that has not been mapped.
Control checks before output
Totals are tied back to the source, balance sheet equality is tested, and unexplained differences stop the run with a clear message instead of producing a polished wrong report.
Drafted variance commentary
The model proposes explanations for movements against budget and prior period, quoting the transactions or categories it relied on.
Branded output formats
Packs are produced as spreadsheets, PDFs or dashboard views using your layout, so directors see familiar pages every month.
Approval and release workflow
Drafts move through preparer, reviewer and approver steps, with a locked version recorded when the pack is signed off.
What we get right before launch
Numbers come from code, words come from the model
Calculations are performed by deterministic queries, never by the language model. The model only phrases explanations, and a validator rejects any figure in the commentary that is not present in the data.
Explanations need business context
A model sees that freight rose; it does not know a supplier changed terms. We let managers add notes that feed the commentary, and unexplained variances are labelled as such.
Multi-currency and tax treatment
Exchange rates, rounding and tax rules differ between Pakistan, Australia and the US. We agree the conventions with your accountant and encode them explicitly so the pipeline stays auditable.

Common questions, answered
Will the AI change or invent numbers?
Figures are produced by queries against your ledger. The model is limited to wording, and a check blocks any commentary that cites a value missing from the underlying data. A finance lead still reviews every pack.
Which accounting systems can you connect to?
Xero, QuickBooks and Odoo through APIs, plus Pakistani software such as Tally or custom systems through database access or scheduled exports. We confirm what is feasible after seeing your setup.
Can it handle several branches or companies?
Yes. Entities are mapped separately and consolidated with elimination rules you define. The complexity of those rules, not the number of branches, is the main design effort.
How long before we can trust the output?
We usually run it in parallel with your manual process for a few cycles, comparing line by line. You switch over only when differences are explained and the reviewer is comfortable.
What influences the price?
Number of source systems, entities and report types, the intricacy of consolidation, and whether you want dashboards as well as documents. A short discovery call settles the scope.
