Customer Portal SoftwareDevelopment

A secure login where your customers can see their orders, invoices and requests, so your staff stop answering the same status questions.

Customer Portal Software Development: what the work involves

Most businesses already hold the answers customers ask for: where is my order, what do I owe, what is the status of my request. The problem is that the information sits in internal tools, and every question becomes a phone call or an email to a person who must look it up. A customer portal puts a controlled slice of that data in front of the customer, safely, at any hour.

DevKey builds portals as a secure layer on top of your existing system or a new database. Customers sign in with their own accounts and see only records tied to their organisation. Typical screens show orders and shipments, invoices and statements with a pay button, project milestones, support tickets and downloadable documents. Staff keep working in the internal system, and the portal reads and writes through a narrow, audited interface.

What we build

Core features

01

Account-scoped login

Customers and their colleagues sign in with roles, and every query is limited to their own organisation's data.

02

Order and delivery tracking

Show order status, dispatch details and expected dates pulled from your internal records, updated as your team works.

03

Invoices, statements and payment

List open and paid invoices, show the statement, and let customers pay online or upload proof of a bank transfer.

04

Requests and support tickets

Customers raise requests, attach files and follow replies, while your team receives them in its normal ticket queue.

05

Document library

Contracts, certificates, quotations and reports are available for download, with access limited to the right customer.

06

Notifications

Email or WhatsApp messages tell customers when an order ships, an invoice is issued or a request is updated.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Tenant isolation

The worst failure is one customer seeing another's data. We enforce isolation in the database layer, not just in screens, and test it with deliberate cross-account attempts.

Connecting to a legacy back office

If the source system has no interface, we may add a sync service or database views. We confirm access and refresh frequency early so the portal never shows misleadingly stale data.

Account onboarding

Inviting thousands of customers is an operational task as well as a technical one. We provide invitation flows, password resets and an admin view for managing users.

Customer Portal Software Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Does the portal replace our internal system?

No. It is a customer-facing window onto it. Your staff continue to work in their own tools, and the portal reads the data they maintain, so there is no second system for them to keep updated.

Can customers pay invoices on the portal?

Yes, through a payment gateway that serves your business, or by uploading a transfer receipt for staff to confirm. Payments are matched to the invoice, and your accounts record updates automatically.

How do you keep customers' data separate?

Every record is tied to a customer account, and database rules ensure queries return only that account's rows. We test isolation directly, not just by clicking around the interface as a normal user.

Can it work on mobile phones?

Yes. The portal is a responsive web application that works in any phone browser. If your customers need push notifications or an installed app, that can be added later on the same backend.
