Garage Management SoftwareDevelopment

Job cards, parts, mechanics and vehicle history in one workshop system, so every car that comes in leaves with a clear bill.

Garage Management Software Development: what the work involves

A busy workshop juggles several cars at once, each with a list of faults, parts to fetch and a customer waiting for a call. On paper job slips get lost, parts used are never billed, and nobody remembers what was done to a car six months ago. The customer disputes the bill because there is nothing to show, and the owner cannot tell which mechanic or which job is actually earning money.

DevKey builds garage software around the job card. A car is checked in with its complaints and photos, an estimate is prepared and approved, parts are issued from stock and labour is logged against the technician. Every job writes to the vehicle's service history, which drives reminder messages for the next oil change or inspection, and gives the front desk an instant answer when a customer phones.

What we build

Core features

01

Job cards with check-in notes

Record the customer complaint, existing damage and photos on arrival, then follow each job through estimate, work and delivery.

02

Estimates and approvals

Prepare a line-by-line estimate of parts and labour, share it with the customer and log their approval before work begins.

03

Parts and stock control

Issue parts to a job from your store, reorder when stock runs low and compare purchase cost with what you charged.

04

Technician allocation

Assign jobs to mechanics and bays, log time on each, and see who is idle, overloaded or producing rework.

05

Vehicle service history

Every car keeps a timeline of jobs, parts and odometer readings, so repeat faults and warranty questions are quick to answer.

06

Service reminders

Automatic messages invite customers back when an oil change, tyre rotation or inspection comes due.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Parts that were never recorded

The usual leak is a part fitted but not charged. Forcing parts through the job card, with a stock issue for each, closes that gap without slowing the mechanic.

Counter-speed data entry

The front desk will not tolerate slow screens. We design for fast vehicle lookup by registration number and keep the common job types one tap away.

Insurance and corporate accounts

Fleet customers and insurers pay on credit and need itemised statements. We keep their balances and billing terms separate from cash customers.

Garage Management Software Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can we look up a car by registration number?

Yes. Searching a plate shows the owner, the full service history, open jobs and any balance due. Cars that visit regularly are found in seconds, and new ones are created from the same search screen.

Does it work on a shop-floor tablet?

Yes. Mechanics can open their assigned jobs on a tablet, add notes and photos and mark tasks complete, while the front desk sees status update on their screen without anyone shouting across the workshop.

Can it send reminders to customers?

It can generate service reminders by date or odometer and send them by SMS or WhatsApp where your messaging provider allows it. You decide the wording and how far ahead the reminder goes out.

Can it handle both labour and parts invoices?

Yes. A job produces one invoice with separate lines for labour and parts, tax where it applies, and any advance already received, so the customer pays a single clear amount at delivery.
