Competitor AdAnalysis

Learn what competitors are saying, where they are advertising and which messages they keep running, then find the gaps they are leaving open.

Competitor Ad Analysis: what the work involves

Most brands write ads in isolation. They guess at what customers want, copy a competitor's headline without understanding it or assume everyone in the category is saying the same thing. The result is a campaign that looks and sounds like everyone else, and gets ignored. The growth problem is blindness to the market: without seeing rivals' offers, formats and persistence, it is hard to differentiate or to tell which ideas are worth testing.

DevKey studies public evidence. We review Meta Ad Library, Google Ads Transparency and TikTok creative libraries, track how long ads run, which formats repeat and how offers and landing pages are structured, and add search visibility and social activity. We summarise patterns in a short report that highlights proven angles, saturated messages and open space, then turn them into specific tests for your own creative and positioning.

What we build

Core features

01

Competitor set definition

03

Landing page and funnel teardown

A look at where competitor ads lead, how the page is built and what the visitor is asked to do.

04

Search and social presence scan

Visibility on paid and organic search, content themes and posting patterns across the main social channels.

05

Messaging gap map

A comparison of claims across the category, showing crowded promises and underused angles you could own.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Public sources only

We use ad libraries, public pages and open data. We never access private accounts or try to obtain confidential information.

Copying versus learning

Duplicating a rival's creative risks IP complaints and weakens your own brand. We extract principles and build original execution.

Longevity is only a clue

A long-running ad suggests performance but does not prove it. We treat the findings as hypotheses to test rather than facts.

Competitor Ad Analysis FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can you see how much competitors spend?

Not accurately. Public libraries show which ads exist and how long they run, not budgets or results. Third-party tools offer estimates, which we treat as rough directional signals and label as such.

Is analysing competitor ads legal?

Reviewing publicly available ads and pages is standard practice. We do not access private data, scrape against terms or reproduce protected creative. Our focus is on learning patterns and creating original work.

How often should competitor analysis be refreshed?

A full review every quarter or before a major campaign suits most brands, with lighter monthly checks on key rivals. Fast-moving categories such as fashion and apps benefit from more frequent updates.

Can this include competitors in Australia and the US?

Yes. Ad libraries cover those markets, so we can study local rivals and see how offers, tone and compliance language differ, which is especially useful for brands planning market entry.
