Software for Larkana's Guava and Fruit Orchards

Guava orchards in Sindh ripen fast and sell on freshness. We build the picking, dispatch and buyer tools that help growers get fruit to market while it is still firm.

The trade, and what it needs from software

Around Larkana, many farmers grow guava alongside other fruit such as mango, banana and citrus. Guava ripens quickly and bruises easily, so fruit must be picked at the right moment, packed with care and sent to city markets within a short time. Growers frequently sell to a contractor who buys the whole orchard crop, or send produce to a commission agent in a larger market.

Because the fruit is perishable and the buyer controls so much of the process, the grower often has little information about what happened after the truck left. DevKey Technologies builds software remotely from Islamabad that gives growers their own record of picking, dispatch and payment, plus tools to find and talk to more buyers.

How it runs

How the work flows in Larkana

01

Picking at the right ripeness

Fruit is harvested by hired labour in several rounds as it matures. Picking too early or too late changes both shelf life and the price the fruit commands.

02

Selling to contractors or agents

Some growers sell the standing crop to a contractor, while others consign to a market agent. Terms, advances and final payment differ with each arrangement.

03

Transport to city markets

Crates travel by truck to Hyderabad, Karachi and beyond. Hours lost on the road are hours of freshness lost, and handling quality matters throughout.

Common problems

Where things go wrong today

Selling blind on rates

A grower often learns the day's market price only through the buyer, which weakens bargaining power and makes it hard to know whether an offer is fair.

No record of what each load fetched

Dispatches and payments are remembered rather than written, so comparing one season, buyer or plot against another is nearly impossible.

Labour and input costs untracked

Spending on pickers, sprays, crates and transport is paid in small amounts and never totalled against income.

Dependence on a single buyer

Without a way to show the orchard's produce to others, growers accept whichever contractor arrives first and take whatever terms he offers.

What we build

Software that fixes it

An orchard diary on the phone

An agriculture app records picking rounds, labour, spraying and dispatches per plot in simple steps, building a history that the grower can rely on in negotiations.

Agriculture App Development

Income and expense accounts

Accounting software puts costs and sales side by side for each season, making it clear which plots and which buyers actually earn money.

Larkana FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can a small grower use this?

Yes. The starting point is a simple record on a phone, which costs the grower nothing but a few minutes after each picking.

Will it tell me market prices?

We can design a way to record and compare the rates you are offered and, where a dependable source exists, display them. It does not set prices, but it improves what you know before you agree.

Does a buyer have to use it as well?

No. The grower's record stands on its own. Buyers and agents can join later if the grower wants a shared order channel.

How do we communicate with a team outside Larkana?

We are in Islamabad, work remotely and speak with you by phone or video. Larkana keeps the same working hours as us, so scheduling is simple.
