Software for Larkana's Rice Mills
Paddy comes in by the truckload and leaves as polished rice, broken grain and husk. We build the intake, yield and ledger records that show what each lot really earned.
The trade, and what it needs from software
Larkana and its surrounding districts are among Sindh's major rice-growing areas, and the mills in and around the city buy paddy from farmers and brokers, dry it, husk it, polish it and grade the finished rice. Fine and coarse varieties go to different buyers, while the by-products, broken rice, bran and husk, are sold separately. Everything depends on how much saleable rice a given quantity of paddy produces.
That recovery figure is the heart of a mill's profit, yet it is usually known only roughly. Paddy purchases, drying losses, milling output and bag stock are noted in different registers, and brokers' accounts run in yet another. DevKey Technologies builds software remotely from Islamabad to bring these registers together so an owner can see what each purchase delivered.
How the work flows in Larkana
Paddy purchase through brokers
Mills buy from farmers directly or via commission brokers, weigh the paddy, test moisture and agree a rate. Advances to farmers and brokers are common ahead of harvest.
Drying, husking and polishing
Paddy is dried, husked and polished, then sorted into whole grain and broken pieces. Each stage loses some weight, and the final yield varies with grain quality and machine condition.
Bagging and sale to traders
Finished rice is packed into bags and sold to wholesalers, exporters and local traders, while by-products go to separate buyers at their own rates.
Where things go wrong today
Recovery rate known only roughly
Because intake, milling and output are recorded separately, owners cannot easily compare what a given paddy lot produced with what it should have produced.
Broker and farmer advances
Money advanced early in the season is difficult to set against later deliveries, and statements are argued over when the season closes.
Mixed grades in the godown
Rice of different varieties and qualities is stacked together and counted by eye, making it hard to promise an exact grade to a buyer.
Weak view of what buyers owe
Credit sales to traders are tracked in notebooks, and slow payers are noticed only when cash runs short.
Software that fixes it
Intake to output in one system
A manufacturing ERP follows paddy from weighbridge through milling to graded bags and by-products, showing the real recovery of each lot.
Manufacturing ERP DevelopmentLedgers for brokers, farmers and buyers
Accounting software tracks advances, purchases and sales across all parties in one place and produces clear statements for each at settlement time.
Accounting Software DevelopmentGodown stock by grade and bag
Inventory management software maintains stock by variety, grade and warehouse position, so a promised quantity can be checked before the deal is confirmed.
Inventory Management Software DevelopmentStronger relationships with repeat traders
A CRM keeps each trader's order history, preferences and pending balances together, helping your sales staff follow up before payments drift.
CRM Software DevelopmentCommon questions, answered
Will it really show our milling yield?
It will show it as accurately as the weights entered. When paddy in and rice out are recorded consistently, the system calculates recovery per lot and per period for you.
Can we use it with our existing weighbridge?
Frequently. Depending on the equipment, weights can be captured automatically or entered quickly on a simple screen. We check this at the start of the project.
What about the owner who prefers a notebook?
We can produce printed registers and statements in familiar layouts, so the transition is gradual and the notebook habit is respected rather than fought.
Is DevKey located in Larkana?
No, we work from Islamabad and serve Larkana mills remotely, with visits if a project needs them.
