Software for Quetta's Carpet Weavers and Rug Sellers
Hand-knotted rugs take months on the loom and sell on the strength of a good photograph. We build the order, stock and storefront tools that serve that craft.
The trade, and what it needs from software
Quetta has a long tradition of hand-knotted and woven rugs, with designs shaped by Baloch and Afghan styles. Weavers work at home looms or in small workshops, often on advance from a dealer who supplies wool or dye and takes the finished piece. A single carpet can occupy a family for weeks, and every piece differs in size, pattern and quality.
That individuality is exactly what generic stock software cannot handle. A rug is not a bin of identical items; it is a one-off with its own story, dimensions and price. DevKey Technologies builds remotely from Islamabad and designs tools around the one-of-a-kind nature of the trade, from the loom to the showroom to an online buyer.
How the work flows in Quetta
Advances and home-based weaving
A dealer supplies materials and money to weaver families, who return finished pieces over time. Keeping track of who holds what, and what remains owed, is a daily concern.
Finishing, washing and grading
Completed rugs are trimmed, washed and assessed for knot quality, wool and design before being priced and placed in the showroom or warehouse.
Sale to local and distant buyers
Rugs sell through showrooms, trade visits and increasingly through photographs shared with buyers who cannot visit in person.
Where things go wrong today
One-off pieces, no unique records
Without a stock record that identifies each rug by its own tag, dimensions and photo, finding a specific piece for a buyer takes a search through stacks.
Artisan advances that blur over time
Money and materials given to weavers over many months are hard to reconcile, and misunderstandings can strain a relationship that the business depends on.
Photos scattered across phones
Product images live in personal galleries and chat threads, so a buyer asking to see what is available gets whatever the seller can find.
Distant buyers who cannot verify quality
Overseas and out-of-town customers hesitate without clear detail shots, measurements and provenance, and trust is hard to build from a single blurry picture.
Software that fixes it
Piece-by-piece inventory
Inventory management software gives every rug its own record, with dimensions, materials, photographs and location, so you can find and quote a specific piece immediately.
Inventory Management Software DevelopmentAn online rug catalogue
An e-commerce website presents each rug with detailed images and measurements, and lets buyers enquire or order without relying on chat threads.
E-commerce Website DevelopmentPhotography that shows the craft
Product photography for e-commerce captures texture, knot detail and true colour, which matters more for a rug than for almost any other product.
Product Photography for E-commerceWeaver advances and settlements
Accounting software tracks materials issued, cash advanced and pieces returned per weaver, producing a clear running balance for both parties.
Accounting Software DevelopmentCommon questions, answered
Can each rug really have its own page and record?
Yes. Treating each piece as a unique item is the starting point of the design. A rug gets its own tag, photos, measurements and status, whether it sits in the showroom or is already sold.
Would weavers need to use the software?
Usually not. Your staff record what is issued and received, and the weaver can be given a simple statement. We do not expect artisans to learn a new system.
Can we sell abroad through the site?
We can build the catalogue and enquiry or checkout flow. Shipping, customs and payment arrangements for export need to be agreed with your own providers.
Where are you based?
Our office is in Islamabad and we work with Quetta clients remotely, visiting when a project calls for it.
