Software for Swat's Hotels and Tourism Businesses
Swat is a valley of riverside hotels and mountain guesthouses where signal comes and goes. We build booking tools that keep working when the connection does not.
The trade, and what it needs from software
Swat is one of the best-known destinations in northern Pakistan, with a green valley, rivers and meadows that draw visitors in the warm months. Hotels range from larger properties in Mingora and Fizagat to small family-run guesthouses further up the valley, and each season brings a fresh wave of visitors followed by quiet winter months.
Running a property here has its own difficulties. The further up the valley, the weaker the mobile signal and the more irregular the power. Owners also depend on seasonal staff and on word of mouth. The right software is therefore modest and resilient: it should survive a lost connection, onboard a new employee in a day, and bring in direct bookings before the season starts.
How the work flows in Swat
A season with a clear peak
Bookings cluster in the warm months and around public holidays. Owners may hire extra staff for a few months and close or run lean for the rest of the year.
Properties spread along the valley
A guest may stay in a larger hotel in town and move on to a smaller guesthouse upstream. Each property handles its own bookings, often by phone, with little shared information between them.
Transport and guides arranged on the side
Hotels commonly arrange jeeps, drivers and local guides for guests. These arrangements are made verbally, and the details rarely reach any shared record.
Where things go wrong today
Patchy connectivity in the upper valley
Cloud tools that stall without a signal are useless to a guesthouse where the network drops for hours. A system that cannot work offline will simply not be used.
Seasonal staff with no time for training
Employees arrive for the season and must be productive quickly. A complicated screen means errors in the first, busiest weeks.
Rate changes tracked on scraps of paper
Peak, shoulder and quiet-season rates, along with group discounts, are remembered rather than recorded, so two staff members may quote different amounts.
Guests who cannot find the property before travelling
Visitors plan trips from home. A property without a clear page, current photos and a way to enquire loses that guest to a better-presented competitor.
Software that fixes it
Offline-first booking software
Bookings and check-ins are recorded locally and synchronised whenever the connection returns, so a dropped signal never stops the desk.
Offline-First Software DevelopmentA hotel management system with seasonal rate cards
Rates for each season and room type live in the system, so staff quote the same figure and the owner can adjust it in one place.
Hotel Management Software DevelopmentTour and activity booking pages
Guests can request jeeps, guides and day trips alongside their room, and the hotel sees every arrangement in one list.
Tour Booking Website DevelopmentA guide app for visitors
An app with maps, valley highlights and the hotel's own recommendations, designed to be downloaded before the guest heads uphill.
Tour Guide App DevelopmentCommon questions, answered
Will it really work without internet?
Yes, if designed for it. The booking and check-in screens store entries on the device and upload them when a connection returns. We confirm this by testing in low-signal conditions before handing the system over.
Can we run it only during the tourist season?
Yes. Data persists through the quiet months, and you can reuse the same system next season. Seasonal staff can be given limited accounts for the months they are with you, then switched off afterwards.
We are in the upper valley. Can you still work with us?
Yes. We work remotely over video and messaging, and plan around connectivity. Calls can be scheduled for when the signal is best, and written notes and recorded walkthroughs cover anything that cannot be handled live.
Can the hotel's own website take bookings?
Yes. A website with an availability calendar and a booking form can feed straight into your management system. Many owners begin with an enquiry form and add paid deposits later, once the process has settled.
