KYC OnboardingAutomation

Collect identity documents, verify them against the person and screening lists, and give compliance a clean file, with humans deciding every borderline case.

KYC Onboarding Automation: what the work involves

Know-your-customer checks make or break onboarding. Customers upload blurry CNIC photos over chat, staff retype names into a core system, and compliance officers hunt through folders for proof of address. Drop-off climbs as applicants wait days, while rushed manual checks are exactly where errors and missed red flags occur.

DevKey designs a guided onboarding flow with the verification steps your regulator expects. The applicant is prompted to capture clear images; document type is recognised, fields are extracted, and a selfie is compared with the ID photo using a liveness-aware provider. Names are screened against sanctions and PEP lists, and the results are assembled into a case file with each check and its outcome. Clean cases advance under your rules, while mismatches and partial hits are queued for an officer.

What we build

Core features

01

Guided document capture

On-screen prompts check for glare, cropping and blur before accepting an image, which prevents many bad submissions from reaching staff.

02

Field extraction and validation

Names, numbers and dates are read from the ID and cross-checked, for example by format rules and consistency between the front and back.

03

Selfie match with liveness

A face comparison between the live capture and the document photo is run through a specialist verification provider, with the score recorded.

04

Watchlist and sanctions screening

Applicant details are screened against the lists your policy specifies, and partial name matches are shown with the evidence for an officer to evaluate.

05

Risk-tiered routing

Rules assign low, medium or high review levels depending on product, country and screening results, so effort goes where risk is.

06

Case file and audit trail

Everything gathered is stored in one record with timestamps, reviewer decisions and reasons, ready for inspection.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Regulation sets the checklist

What counts as sufficient verification is defined by your regulator, not by us. We implement the steps your compliance officer specifies and avoid presenting AI output as a legal determination.

Biometric and personal data handling

Face images and identity numbers are highly sensitive. We minimise retention, encrypt at rest, restrict access, and document consent and deletion practices in line with applicable privacy rules.

Fairness of face matching

Face comparison performs unevenly across lighting, age and skin tones. We choose providers with published evaluation, track failure rates in your population, and always offer a manual alternative.

KYC Onboarding Automation FAQ

Common questions, answered

Is the whole KYC decision automated?

Not by default. Clear, low-risk cases can progress automatically under rules you approve, but any mismatch, partial watchlist hit or unusual profile is decided by a compliance officer who sees the evidence.

Can it read Pakistani CNICs and passports?

Yes, through ID-specific extraction with validation on number formats and dates. Accuracy varies with image quality, so we test on sample documents and set rules for when to ask for a recapture.

Where is customer data stored?

In infrastructure you choose, with encryption and access control. We can keep data in-region where regulations require, and we design deletion and retention schedules with your compliance lead.

Do we need a separate verification vendor?

For face matching with liveness and some sanctions lists, usually yes. We integrate providers rather than building biometrics from scratch, and explain trade-offs between them.

What drives cost?

Verification provider fees, number of document types and countries, the approval workflow, and integration with your core system. Provider charges are separate from development, and we outline both clearly.
