Distribution Management SoftwareDevelopment

Run salesman orders, deliveries, schemes and retailer credit across territories, with stock and recoveries visible to the owner every evening.

Distribution Management Software Development: what the work involves

A distributor sits between companies and hundreds of retailers, and the business is won in the details: which shops a salesman visited, what each ordered, what was delivered, which scheme applied and how much credit is outstanding. On paper, orders are rewritten at the office, deliveries differ from orders, and recoveries from retailers lag. Owners know sales only after consolidation, and credit exposure grows unseen until a large account defaults.

DevKey builds distribution systems around retailers, routes and orders. Salesmen use a mobile app to take orders on their beat, with offline mode for areas without signal; orders flow to the warehouse for picking and to delivery staff for drops; invoices follow delivered quantities; and recoveries are collected and posted against retailer ledgers. Company schemes, discounts and claims from principals are managed as rules, and the owner gets daily sales, stock and credit reports by territory.

What we build

Core features

01

Retailer master and routes

Retailers with location, category, credit limit and visit schedule, grouped into beats assigned to salesmen.

02

Salesman order app

Take orders on a phone with the price list, stock availability and scheme suggestions, working offline on the route.

03

Delivery and van sales

Orders are consolidated into delivery trips, with invoices on delivered quantities, returns and van stock for direct sales.

04

Schemes and discounts

Company and distributor schemes such as slabs, free goods and trade discounts applied by rule, with claim reports for principals.

05

Retailer credit and recovery

Credit limits block or warn on new orders, collections are posted against invoices, and recovery lists guide the daily follow-up.

06

Territory and salesman reports

Sales, visits, strike rate, outstanding and stock by territory, salesman, product and principal.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Scheme complexity

Schemes overlap and change with every principal. We model them as dated rules, test against past invoices, and keep claim calculation separate so disputes can be reconciled line by line.

Credit control versus sales pressure

Salesmen want to book orders; owners want credit limits respected. We enforce limits with a manager override that is logged, rather than leaving credit to goodwill.

Salesman adoption and GPS

A salesman app must be faster than a notebook. We keep order entry quick, and use location check-ins only to confirm visits, with a clear policy on what is recorded.

Distribution Management Software Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can salesmen take orders without internet?

Yes. The app caches the price list, retailers and stock snapshot, stores orders on the phone and syncs when signal returns. Price or scheme changes made at head office reach the device on the next sync.

Does it handle principal schemes and claims?

Yes. Schemes are set up as rules per principal with start and end dates, applied at invoicing, and tracked so that claim statements to the company are produced from the transactions that earned them.

Can it control retailer credit?

Credit limits and overdue days can warn or block new orders, with a manager override logged. Recovery lists by route and ageing tell collectors whom to visit first, and receipts update ledgers immediately.

Can it work with our accounts software?

Sales, receipts and stock movements can export to your accounting package or post to a built-in ledger. We settle the integration method with your accountant, so retailer balances match in both places.
