POS SoftwareDevelopment
A billing counter that stays quick at rush hour, prints on your receipt printer, and keeps selling even when the internet drops.
POS Software Development: what the work involves
A point-of-sale system sits at the busiest and least forgiving spot in a business: a customer is waiting, the queue is growing, and every extra second at the counter is felt. Cashiers need to scan, apply a discount, take split payment and hand over a receipt without the screen freezing. Behind that, the owner needs to know what sold, who sold it and whether the till matches the day's cash.
DevKey builds POS as an Electron desktop application over a local SQLite database, so billing never depends on connectivity, and a background service syncs sales, stock and prices with a central PostgreSQL server. The counter screen is designed for keyboard and scanner speed. Receipts print on ESC/POS thermal printers, cash drawers open on payment, and the back office runs as a web dashboard for products, prices, staff and reports across branches.
Core features
Fast billing screen
Scan or search items, edit quantities by keyboard, hold and recall bills, and complete cash, card or split payments in a few keystrokes.
Thermal receipts and drawer
Receipts with your logo and terms print on 58 or 80 millimetre thermal paper, and the cash drawer opens on payment.
Returns and exchanges
Refunds reference the original bill, restore stock, and need manager authorisation above limits you set.
Shifts and cash reconciliation
Each cashier opens a shift with a float, closes it with a count, and the system shows the shortage or excess by payment type.
Pricing, promotions and discounts
Price lists by branch, item and customer group, percentage and bundle offers, and a rule-based cap on cashier discounts.
Branch and head-office reports
Sales by hour, item, cashier and category, with stock and margin, available centrally or per outlet.
What we get right before launch
Offline first, then sync
The till must never wait for the server. Bills get a local sequence number per terminal, and sync resolves duplicates so numbering stays gap-free and auditable.
FBR POS invoicing
Retailers in scope of the tax authority's POS invoicing rules need integration with its system. We build to that integration, check current requirements with you, and keep failed submissions queued for retry.
Hardware compatibility
Scanners, printers and drawers vary by model and driver. We confirm your exact devices up front and keep a tested list, since a printer that fails undermines everything else.

Common questions, answered
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The counter runs from a local database and keeps billing offline. When connectivity returns, sales, stock and price changes sync with the head office. We test the sync with deliberately interrupted connections before release.
Can it integrate with FBR invoicing?
We build the POS to integrate with FBR's POS invoicing requirements where they apply to your business. Applicability and onboarding steps depend on your registration, so we confirm them with you and your tax adviser first.
Which printers and scanners are supported?
Most ESC/POS thermal printers and standard USB barcode scanners work. Customer displays and weighing scales can be added. Send us the model names and we verify them in advance instead of promising blind.
Can one head office control many shops?
Yes. Prices, products and staff are managed centrally and pushed to every terminal, while each branch keeps its own stock and shifts. Owners see all outlets on one dashboard with drill-down by branch.
