Restaurant Management SoftwareDevelopment

Take orders at the table or counter, route them to the right kitchen printer, and see food cost and sales by outlet at the end of the day.

Restaurant Management Software Development: what the work involves

In a restaurant, the system must keep up with the pace of service: orders taken at a table, a ticket in the kitchen within seconds, modifications and voids, and a bill split three ways at the end. Handwritten captain orders get misread, kitchens run out of items nobody told the cashier about, and owners cannot tell whether a wasted ingredient or a discounting waiter caused a thin margin.

DevKey builds restaurant software around the menu, the order and the recipe. Orders are tied to tables or delivery riders, items are routed to kitchen, bar or tandoor printers, and recipes deduct ingredients from stock as dishes sell. Billing supports split payments, service charge and tax lines. The counter runs as an offline-first Electron app so service never stops, and a central database consolidates outlets, online orders and deliveries.

What we build

Core features

01

Table and order management

Floor map, open tabs, course timing, modifiers such as no onion, and transfers between tables or merged bills.

02

Kitchen and bar routing

Items print or display at the correct station, with times shown so slow tickets are visible to the expediter.

03

Menu, modifiers and combos

Categories, sizes, add-ons, deal bundles and happy-hour pricing, changed centrally and pushed to every outlet.

04

Recipes and ingredient stock

Each dish lists its ingredients, sales deduct them, and variance between theoretical and counted stock exposes waste.

05

Billing and split payments

Split by seat or amount, mixed cash and card, service charge, tax lines and printed or messaged receipts.

06

Delivery and online orders

Phone and web orders enter the same queue, riders are assigned, and delivery status and cash collected are tracked.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Voids and discount control

Counter fraud hides in voids, comps and discounts. Those actions need manager authority, a reason code and an exception report the owner reads.

Kitchen printer reliability

A lost ticket is a lost table. We design printer routing with retry, a visible fail alert, and a tested fallback so one jammed printer does not stall the kitchen.

Recipe costing effort

Food cost reporting needs recipes entered accurately. We stage this by starting with top sellers, so the benefit arrives early rather than after weeks of data entry.

Restaurant Management Software Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Does it work during an internet outage?

Yes. The counter and kitchen run from a local database, so orders and bills continue. Online orders obviously need connectivity, but dine-in billing, printing and shift closing do not, and everything syncs afterwards.

Can orders go to several kitchen printers?

Yes. Each menu item maps to a station, such as grill, fryer or bar, and prints on that station's thermal printer. We test routing on your actual printers and network layout during setup.

Can it track ingredient costs and wastage?

With recipes loaded, each sale deducts ingredients and periodic counts show variance. That points to wastage, over-portioning or theft. Accuracy depends on keeping recipes and purchase prices updated, which we make easy.

Can we connect food delivery platforms?

Where a platform offers an integration, orders can flow into the same queue. Availability depends on the platform's partner terms, so we check what is open to you rather than assuming an API exists.
