Give every customer a token, call them to the right counter and show managers where the waiting really happens.

Queue Management Software Development: what the work involves

A crowded waiting room is rarely a staffing problem alone. People crowd the counter because they cannot tell whether they are next, they argue about who arrived first, and staff cannot see which service is backing up. Queue management software replaces the shouting with a numbered token and a clear call to the right counter.

DevKey builds queue systems around your service flow. A kiosk or receptionist issues a token for a chosen service, the counter screen calls the next person by priority and wait time, and a display in the hall shows numbers being served. Optional SMS lets customers wait elsewhere, and every ticket's wait and service time is stored so you can staff counters to real demand.

What we build

Core features

01

Token kiosk and reception issue

Customers pick a service on a touch kiosk or are ticketed by staff, receiving a printed or on-screen token with an estimated position.

02

Counter call console

Each operator sees their queue, calls the next token, recalls a no-show, or transfers the customer to another service point.

03

Hall display and audio

A television shows current and upcoming tokens with counter numbers, and an optional voice announcement supports local languages.

04

Priority and appointment lanes

Elderly, disabled, urgent or pre-booked customers enter a priority lane, with rules you set for how often they are called ahead of standard tokens.

05

SMS and WhatsApp alerts

A customer can leave the premises and receive a message when their turn is near, which shortens the physical queue.

06

Wait and service analytics

Average wait, longest wait, abandoned tokens and counter productivity are charted by hour and by service for staffing decisions.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Fairness rules people can accept

Priority lanes help some and annoy others. We write the calling rules down with you, show them on the kiosk, and make overrides require a reason so staff cannot quietly favour acquaintances.

Hardware in a public space

Kiosks, thermal printers and screens are handled roughly. We pick durable devices, keep the software able to run from a local server, and provide a manual ticket mode for hardware failure.

Tying tokens to the service record

A token is more useful when linked to what happened at the counter. We connect to your billing, patient or case system so the visit record starts from the token rather than being typed again.

Queue Management Software Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Do customers need a smartphone?

No. A kiosk or receptionist issues a printed token, and the hall display calls numbers. Phone alerts are an optional extra for customers who want to wait elsewhere, not a requirement.

Can it handle several branches?

Yes. Each branch runs its own queues and counters while head office views comparative wait times and throughput. Branch staff only see their own location, controlled by role.

What if the internet drops?

The queue itself can run from a local server inside the premises, so tokens, calling and displays continue. Only SMS alerts and central reporting wait for the connection to return.

What drives the cost?

The number of service types and counters, whether you need kiosks, displays and audio, messaging alerts, and integration with an existing billing or patient system. We quote after reviewing your service flow.
