Bus Ticket Booking AppDevelopment

An intercity bus app with a live seat map, QR boarding passes and departure updates, replacing counters and phone reservations.

Bus Ticket Booking App Development: what the work involves

Intercity bus companies still depend on terminal counters, agents and phone calls to sell seats. Travellers cannot see which seats remain, agents hold seats informally that never get paid for, and a coach leaves half-empty while a passenger on the platform is told it is full.

We build a ticketing app on a seat-level inventory service. Each trip is a route, a departure time and a seat layout; passengers pick seats on a visual map, a hold timer protects the choice during payment, and a signed QR ticket is issued. Terminal staff scan tickets at boarding using a phone or tablet, and a manifest for each coach is available to the supervisor and the driver.

What we build

Core features

01

Visual seat map

Passengers pick exact seats on a coach layout, with gender-segregated rows and sold seats greyed out in real time.

02

Route and schedule search

Origin, destination and date return departures with bus type, stops, duration and the seats left.

03

Hold timer during payment

Selected seats are locked for a short window, then released if payment is not completed, so no seat is stuck forever.

04

QR boarding pass

A signed code in the app is scanned at the terminal, and duplicate scans are rejected immediately.

05

Agent and counter sales

Counter staff and authorised agents sell from the same inventory, with their own commission and cash-up statements.

06

Delay and platform alerts

Passengers receive the boarding gate and any departure delay by push or SMS, so waiting time at the terminal drops.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Seat consistency under load

Eid and weekend demand creates many simultaneous attempts on the same seat. Database-level locking guarantees a seat sells once, and we load-test the booking path before peak season.

Refund and cancellation rules

Policies change by hours before departure. We encode them as rules, show the exact refund before the passenger cancels, and record every deduction.

Weak signal at terminals

Boarding scanners must work in crowded bus stations. Manifests are cached on the device so scanning continues if the network drops and syncs later.

Bus Ticket Booking App Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can we keep selling through counters while adding the app?

Yes. Counter and agent sales use the same inventory through a staff screen, so a seat sold at the terminal disappears from the app immediately and the reverse is also true.

How do passengers pay for tickets?

Through wallets such as JazzCash and Easypaisa, cards via a local gateway, or a pay-at-counter reservation that expires if not collected. The available options depend on the providers you are approved with.

Is a printed ticket still needed?

No. The QR pass inside the app is sufficient, and an SMS link can serve passengers without the app installed. A printable version can also be generated for those who ask for paper.

Can multiple bus companies share one app?

Yes, in an aggregator design. Each operator manages its own routes and fares in a console, and the platform takes a configured commission on each booking.
