Campus AppDevelopment
One app for a student's timetable, grades, announcements and campus life, instead of five portals and a notice board.
Campus App Development: what the work involves
A university student's day is spread across a portal for results, an LMS for lectures, a notice board for cancellations and a WhatsApp group for everything else. New students cannot find rooms, and an urgent change of venue reaches only the people who happened to check the right place at the right time.
We build the campus app as a front door to the systems the institution already owns. Students sign in once, see a personalised timetable with rooms, view grades and attendance pulled from the student information system, and receive targeted notices by department or semester. A campus map guides new students, a bus schedule shows routes and timings, and societies post events with RSVP. Staff have a separate view for announcements and attendance.
Core features
Personal timetable
Classes, rooms and instructors by semester, with a push when a class is cancelled or relocated.
Grades and attendance
Results and attendance percentages are drawn from the student information system after a secure single sign-on.
Targeted announcements
Notices go to a department, batch or section, so students stop receiving messages that do not concern them.
Campus map and wayfinding
Buildings, labs, libraries and cafeterias on an indoor-aware map, with directions for new students.
Events and societies
Societies publish events, students RSVP, and organisers scan tickets or QR codes at the door.
Transport and library services
Bus timings with live location where available, and library book search with due-date reminders.
What we get right before launch
Single sign-on and integration
The app is only as good as its connection to student systems. We plan around the institution's identity provider and the data it can expose, which varies a lot between universities.
Peak load on result days
When results release, every student opens the app at once. We cache and queue so the server survives the spike, and avoid hitting the student system directly from the phone.
Student privacy
Grades are private. Access requires authentication, lock-screen notifications avoid revealing marks, and staff views are limited by department.

Common questions, answered
Can students log in with their university accounts?
Usually yes, through OAuth, SAML or the institution's identity service. If the university has no such system, we can build a registration flow tied to student ID and verified through the admissions office.
Will it replace our existing portal?
Not necessarily. Most institutions keep the portal as the system of record and use the app as a faster, mobile-friendly way to reach it. Over time more functions can move into the app.
Does it work for multiple campuses?
Yes. Campuses can hold their own maps, timetables, transport and notices under one app, with students seeing the campus they are enrolled in and staff managing theirs.
Can students use it offline?
The timetable, map and last-synced notices are cached on the device and open without signal. Live items, such as grades or bus location, update when the student reconnects.
