Grocery Delivery WebsiteDevelopment

A grocery website that handles slots, substitutions, loose-weight items and cash on delivery, so your picking team stops re-typing WhatsApp lists.

Grocery Delivery Website Development: what the work involves

Groceries are the hardest thing to sell online because every basket is forty small decisions. Customers reorder the same atta, oil and milk each week, expect fresh items to be picked sensibly, and will abandon the order if the app cannot tell them whether tomorrow evening is still available. Many neighbourhood stores in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi still take lists on WhatsApp, and the owner becomes the bottleneck for stock checks, price quotes and rider dispatch.

We model the catalogue around how a store actually sells: pack sizes, loose items priced per kilogram with an estimated weight, perishable flags and branch-level stock. Delivery zones, slot capacity and minimum basket rules live in the database, not in someone's head. Orders flow to a pick list for your staff, then to a dispatch view for riders. We launch with your top few hundred products imported from your existing sheet, then grow the range as the team gets comfortable.

What we build

Core features

01

Delivery slot engine

Customers pick a window per zone, and each window has a capacity your team sets, so evening rush never overbooks your riders.

02

Weight-adjusted pricing

Items sold loose are ordered by estimated weight and finalised at packing, with the customer charged only for the actual weight.

03

Substitution preferences

Shoppers choose per item whether to accept a similar brand, skip the item or call them, which cuts the phone calls from pickers.

04

Reorder from history

A returning customer rebuilds last week's basket in two taps, which is how most grocery revenue actually repeats.

05

Picker and rider screens

Staff get an aisle-ordered pick list on a phone, then riders see a drop sequence with cash to collect for each address.

06

Branch-level stock

Each store keeps its own availability, so an item out of stock in one sector never shows as orderable there.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Cash on delivery reconciliation

Most baskets will still be paid in cash, so riders need a settlement screen and your accountant needs a clean daily cash report per rider.

Freshness and returns policy

Decide early how you handle spoiled or missing items, because the refund flow shapes the order data model and the support workload.

Catalogue maintenance

A grocery catalogue is only as good as its data. Plan who updates prices and photos daily, and we will give that person a bulk-edit sheet.

Grocery Delivery Website Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can customers still pay cash on delivery?

Yes. COD is usually the default for groceries in Pakistan, so we build it first, with rider cash settlement. Card, JazzCash or Easypaisa can sit alongside it and be switched on once your volume justifies the gateway setup.

How do we load thousands of products?

We import from your existing Excel or POS export, map categories, and clean up names and units. Photos are the slow part, so we launch with the fast sellers first and fill the long tail in batches.

Can it connect to our POS stock?

Often yes, if the POS can export or expose stock through a file or API. We scope that during discovery, since older desktop POS software sometimes needs a small bridge script to sync quantities.

What drives the timeline?

Mainly catalogue size, number of branches and delivery zones, and whether POS sync is needed. A single-store site with COD is far quicker than a multi-branch operation with live stock and rider tracking.
