University WebsiteDevelopment

A university site serves applicants, current students, faculty and researchers at once. Structure it so each of them reaches the right page in two clicks.

University Website Development: what the work involves

Universities publish more content than almost any other organisation: hundreds of programs, departments, faculty profiles, policies, news items and research outputs, usually written by different offices. The typical result is a site that grew by accumulation, with duplicate pages, outdated admission deadlines and a search box that cannot find the prospectus. Applicants, who are the most commercially important visitors, are the ones who suffer when they cannot work out which degree fits them or when applications close.

We begin with information architecture: audience paths for undergraduate, postgraduate, international and current students, then a content model that stores programs, departments, people and deadlines as reusable records. A program is written once and appears on its department page, in search and in comparison lists. Applications can link to your existing admission system or run through a new portal. Headless content tooling lets each department edit its own section within approval rules, while the central team keeps control of layout and navigation.

What we build

Core features

01

Program catalogue with filters

Degrees are searchable by level, faculty, mode of study and intake, each with a structured page for eligibility, curriculum, duration and career outcomes.

02

Audience-based navigation

Dedicated entry points for undergraduates, postgraduates, international applicants and current students keep the main menu short and relevant.

03

Admission portal integration

Application forms, document upload and status tracking either connect to your student information system or run in a standalone portal built for the purpose.

04

Faculty and research directory

Profiles list qualifications, publications and supervised topics, with search by department or research area so applicants can find supervisors.

05

Departmental editing with approval

Department staff update their own pages through a controlled editor, and changes pass a review step before appearing publicly.

06

News, events and notices

Convocations, seminars and merit-list announcements are published in dated feeds and mirrored to a calendar that students can subscribe to.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Regulator-facing information

HEC recognition status, accreditation notes and program approvals should appear accurately. We create a place for them but the institution must verify and maintain the wording.

Content governance across departments

Without roles and approval rules, dozens of editors create inconsistency. Decide early who owns which section and who signs off before publishing.

Peak admission-season traffic

Merit lists and deadline days create sudden surges. Static rendering, caching and a plan for result pages keep the site up when applicants refresh constantly.

University Website Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can the website integrate with our student information system?

Where the system exposes an API or export, we can read program data and send applications into it. For older systems without one, a scheduled file exchange is often the realistic option.

How do departments manage their own content?

Each department gets an editor login with access to its own pages only. Edits go to a reviewer before publishing, so the central communications team still approves what appears.

Will it support international applicants?

Yes. We can add country-specific guidance for fees, visas and equivalency of qualifications, plus time-zone friendly contact options and multiple language versions of key pages.

What drives the time and scope of a university site?

The number of programs and departments, how much existing content must be migrated, and whether the admission portal is new. Content readiness from the departments is usually the slowest part.
