Business Intelligence DashboardDevelopment

Dashboards that pull numbers from the systems you already run and show owners and managers what is happening, without a monthly spreadsheet rebuild.

Business Intelligence Dashboard Development: what the work involves

Most owners get their figures late and in several versions. Sales come from the POS, stock from the warehouse sheet, cash from the accountant, and somebody spends days stitching them into a report that is already out of date when it is read. Two managers quote different revenue for the same month, and nobody is sure which is right. A dashboard is useful only when people trust the numbers behind it.

DevKey builds dashboards by starting with the questions each role needs answered, then tracing every figure back to its source and agreeing its definition. We connect to your databases, APIs or exported files, clean and combine the data in a reporting layer, and present it in charts and tables with drill-down to the underlying transactions. Access is role-based, so a branch manager sees their branch while the owner sees everything.

What we build

Core features

01

Agreed metric definitions

Each KPI has a written definition, such as what counts as a sale or an active customer, so every chart answers the same question the same way.

02

Multi-source data connection

Combine your ERP, POS, accounting tool, website and spreadsheets into one dataset, refreshed on a schedule that suits the decision.

03

Role-based views

Owners, branch heads and department managers each open a dashboard tailored to their responsibility and permitted data.

04

Drill-down to transactions

Click from a total to the invoices or orders that make it up, which is how people learn to trust and challenge the figures.

05

Filters and period comparison

Slice by branch, product or date, and compare this month with last month or the same period last year.

06

Scheduled reports and alerts

Send a summary to inboxes on a schedule, and trigger a notification when a measure crosses a threshold such as low stock or overdue receivables.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Data quality at the source

A dashboard exposes messy inputs. Duplicate customers or inconsistent product codes show up as wrong totals, so we log data issues found during build and agree who fixes them.

Query load on live systems

Heavy reports can slow the transactional database. We read from a replica or a separate reporting store so managers can explore without affecting the till.

Who may see what

Margin and payroll figures are sensitive. We enforce row- and column-level permissions at the data layer, not merely hiding charts in the interface.

Business Intelligence Dashboard Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Can you build dashboards on top of our existing software?

Usually yes. We read from its database, API or scheduled exports, so your staff keep their current tools. We confirm access and data structure in discovery before agreeing what the dashboard can show.

How fresh is the data?

That depends on the source and the need. Sales figures can refresh every few minutes, while financial summaries may update nightly. We set refresh rates per dataset and display the last updated time on screen.

Why not just use a ready-made BI tool?

Ready-made tools are a good choice for many teams. A custom dashboard makes sense when you want it embedded in your own app, with your branding, permissions and workflows, or when licensing per viewer becomes impractical.

Can staff export the data?

Yes. Tables can be exported to spreadsheet or PDF where a role allows it, and exports are logged. Sensitive figures can be left out of export entirely according to your policy.
