Attendance AppDevelopment
Staff check in from their phone with location and a selfie, and HR gets clean attendance sheets instead of arguments about who was present.
Attendance App Development: what the work involves
Attendance is simple until it touches payroll. Paper registers get altered, biometric machines sit at one gate while half the staff work offsite, and a supervisor ends each month reconciling who was late with who was merely not recorded. Disputes about days worked cost HR hours and erode trust.
We build a check-in app tied to a rules engine. Staff mark in and out with a selfie and location against an assigned site or geofence, or use a QR at a shared device. Shifts, grace periods, overtime and leave are configured per team, and exceptions go to a manager for approval. The output is a monthly sheet that payroll can use directly, with an audit trail of every edit.
Core features
Geofenced check-in
Staff mark attendance only within an allowed radius of their assigned site, with exceptions for approved field work.
Selfie verification
A live photo is captured at check-in and compared with the enrolled face so one person cannot mark for another.
Shift and roster rules
Fixed, rotating and flexible shifts with grace periods, late marks and automatic overtime calculation.
Leave and correction requests
Employees request leave or a forgotten-punch correction, and managers approve from their own phones.
Offline marking
A check-in made without signal is stored with its time and location and synced later, flagged for the manager.
Payroll-ready reports
Daily and monthly summaries of presence, lateness, overtime and leave, exportable to spreadsheets or payroll software.
What we get right before launch
Employee privacy and consent
Face images and location are personal data. Staff must be told what is collected, location is read only at check-in, and photos are stored securely with a defined retention period.
GPS spoofing
Fake-location apps defeat naive checks. We detect mock-location flags, compare accuracy and add selfie liveness, though no method is absolute, so exceptions go to review.
Weak GPS indoors
Concrete buildings blur positioning, so honest staff get rejected. We allow wider radii, Wi-Fi or QR as secondary proof and a manual-approval fallback.

Common questions, answered
Can it replace our biometric machine?
For many businesses yes, using phone selfie, QR or geofence. Factories with large shifts and no personal phones may keep a shared tablet kiosk at the gate, which the same system supports.
How do you stop someone marking attendance for a friend?
Through selfie matching against the enrolled face, device binding so one phone belongs to one employee, and flags for unusual patterns. These raise the effort substantially but are not impossible to defeat.
Does it calculate salaries?
It produces the attendance, overtime and leave figures payroll needs, and can export them or connect to your payroll software. Full salary calculation is a separate module we can build if you want it.
Can employees see their own records?
Yes. Each person sees their own days, late marks, balance of leave and pending requests, which cuts down the disputes that come from not knowing what was recorded.
