Prayer Times AppDevelopment

A prayer app is opened several times a day, and it must be right every time. Accuracy, reliable adhan alerts and respectful design matter most.

Prayer Times App Development: what the work involves

A prayer times app gives Muslims accurate salah timings for wherever they are, with an adhan, Qibla compass and reminders. The business problem is not novelty but dependability. Users abandon an app the first time an alert fires late, a time is off by several minutes or the interface fills with intrusive adverts at a sensitive moment.

DevKey builds prayer apps using established calculation methods and juristic options such as Hanafi and Shafi asr, letting users choose their own, and computing times offline from location. Scheduled local notifications play the adhan even when the app is closed. Extras include Qibla through the compass sensor, Hijri calendar, Ramadan timetable, tasbih and a mosque finder, with an admin to publish local jamaat times.

What we build

Core features

01

Accurate prayer time calculation

Multiple calculation methods and Hanafi or Shafi asr, adjustable by minutes, computed offline from the device location and timezone.

02

Reliable adhan notifications

Scheduled local alerts with a chosen muazzin and per-prayer toggles, built to fire on time on Android and iOS.

03

Qibla compass

A calibrated direction finder using the compass sensor, with a clear prompt when the device needs recalibration.

04

Hijri calendar and Ramadan

Islamic dates with moon-sighting adjustments, suhoor and iftar timings, fasting reminders and an Eid countdown.

05

Mosque finder and jamaat times

Nearby mosques on the map and congregation times that mosque committees update from a simple admin screen.

06

Dhikr and daily duas

A tasbih counter, daily supplications and short reminders in Arabic, Urdu and English, with correct text rendering.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Alert reliability across phones

Android makers aggressively kill background tasks, and iOS limits scheduled notifications. We use exact alarms, test on Xiaomi, Oppo and Samsung, and guide users through battery settings.

Religious accuracy and review

Texts, duas and rulings need scholarly checking. We build content from verified sources, cite them and make corrections simple to publish.

Respectful monetisation and privacy

Adverts during worship feel wrong, and location is sensitive. We keep monetisation gentle, such as an ad-free supporter plan, and request only coarse location when sufficient.

Prayer Times App Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Which calculation methods do you support?

The widely used ones, including Muslim World League, Karachi, ISNA, Umm al-Qura and Egyptian, plus Hanafi and Shafi asr. Users can also fine-tune each prayer in minutes to match their local mosque.

Will the adhan sound when the app is closed?

Yes, using scheduled local notifications and exact alarms on Android. Because some phones restrict this, we test across brands and add in-app guidance for battery and notification settings.

Can a mosque publish its own jamaat times?

Yes. A committee member signs in to an admin panel, enters congregation times or a weekly pattern, and followers of that mosque receive the update and an optional reminder.

Can the app work offline?

Prayer times, the Qibla compass and the Hijri calendar are computed on the device, so they work without internet once a location is set. Mosque listings and updates need a connection.
