Security Patrol AppDevelopment

Clients pay a guarding company to know that rounds really happened. A patrol app records every checkpoint and makes an alert impossible to miss.

Security Patrol App Development: what the work involves

A security patrol app helps guard companies and facility teams prove and manage their rounds. The business problem is accountability. Paper registers are filled in at the end of a shift, supervisors cannot verify that a remote post was visited, and a serious incident is reported late, by phone, with no photos or timestamps.

DevKey builds guard apps that scan NFC tags or QR codes at checkpoints, record the time and location of each tour, and let guards file incident reports with photos and notes. An SOS button alerts the control room with position. Supervisors see live tours, missed checkpoints and shift attendance on a web console, and clients receive automatic reports without anyone retyping logbooks.

What we build

Core features

01

Checkpoint scanning with NFC or QR

Tags fixed at key points are scanned to log a visit, with sequence and time-window rules so rounds follow the planned route.

02

Tour scheduling and missed alerts

Define patrol routes and intervals per post, and notify supervisors when a checkpoint is skipped or a tour is late.

03

Incident reporting

Quick forms with category, photos, voice note and location, delivered instantly to the control room and the client contact.

04

SOS and panic button

A one-touch alarm that sends position and a message to supervisors, with escalation if nobody acknowledges within a set time.

05

Attendance and shift handover

Guard check-in with selfie or tag, shift logs and handover notes so the next team knows what happened.

06

Client reports and dashboards

Automatic daily and weekly summaries of tours, incidents and attendance for each site, branded for the guarding company.

Planned for

What we get right before launch

Background location and battery

Live guard tracking requires continuous location, which drains batteries over a twelve-hour shift. We track only during tours, use foreground services and explain location use clearly to guards.

Guard privacy and labour concerns

Monitoring staff has limits. We record work-related data during shifts only, tell guards what is collected and give companies policy-friendly reports rather than raw surveillance.

Signal loss and tampering

Posts may lack coverage, and guards might share tags or fake locations. Offline scanning, time sync checks and mock-location detection preserve the integrity of the record.

Security Patrol App Development FAQ

Common questions, answered

Should we use NFC tags or QR codes?

NFC tags are sturdier and harder to copy, while QR codes cost almost nothing and work on every phone. Many companies mix them, using NFC at high-value points and QR elsewhere.

Does it work without a mobile signal?

Yes. Scans are stored on the device with trusted timestamps and uploaded when connectivity returns. Live alerts such as SOS need a signal, so we also support SMS fallback for critical events.

Can clients see their own site data?

Yes. Client accounts show only their sites' patrols, incidents and attendance, with scheduled reports by email, which helps the guarding company demonstrate value at contract review.

Can guards use their own phones?

They can, but many companies issue rugged Android devices to avoid battery and data issues. The app runs on both, and we advise on device policy and the data allowance needed.
