Bookstore WebsiteDevelopment
A bookstore site built around ISBNs, authors and school lists, so readers and parents find the exact edition they need in a few taps.
Bookstore Website Development: what the work involves
Selling books online is a catalogue problem before it is a design problem. Titles come in editions, formats and languages, and the right one matters: a parent buying the wrong edition of a grade seven textbook has wasted a trip, and a reader hunting for an out-of-print Urdu novel wants to know whether any copy exists. Many shops hold thousands of titles in a stock register and have no clean way to show what is on the shelf.
We build the catalogue on ISBN and edition records, with author, publisher, series, language and binding all searchable. Urdu and English titles live side by side with proper right-to-left rendering. School book lists let parents choose their school and grade and add the whole set to a cart. Preorders and back-in-stock alerts capture demand, and a recommendation area built from your own sales helps customers find their next read.
Core features
ISBN and edition catalogue
Records capture ISBN, edition, binding and publisher, so customers can be sure which version they are buying.
Urdu and English browsing
Titles, authors and descriptions display correctly in both scripts, with search that handles Urdu spelling variations.
School list ordering
Parents select a school and grade, see the prescribed books and add the full set, with substitutions flagged clearly.
Preorder and back-in-stock alerts
Upcoming releases take preorders, and customers waiting on a sold-out title are notified when stock returns.
Used and rare book listings
Single-copy items show condition, photos and edition notes, and disappear the moment they are sold.
Author, series and collection pages
Readers move naturally through an author's catalogue or a series in reading order, which boosts multi-book orders.
What we get right before launch
Catalogue data entry
Rich book data takes effort. We use ISBN lookups and import tools to speed up entry, but a person still needs to check titles, covers and Urdu metadata.
Seasonal textbook rush
Back-to-school weeks drive extreme traffic and complex multi-item orders. We prepare for peaks with caching, stock limits and clear delivery cut-offs.
Copyright and imports
Selling pirated or unauthorised reprints creates legal risk and reputational damage. Source tracking on each title helps you keep the catalogue clean.

Common questions, answered
Can we import our stock list by ISBN?
Yes. We load from your register or POS export, match ISBNs and pull in cover images and basic metadata where available. Missing or Urdu-only titles usually need manual enrichment.
Can we sell e-books or PDFs?
Yes, as a digital product with protected download links. Before selling, check you hold the rights, and consider the piracy risk, which we reduce with expiring links and watermarking where suitable.
Will the search handle Urdu titles?
Yes. We configure the search engine for Urdu text, including common spelling variants, so a reader typing a title in Urdu finds it even if the record has small differences.
How do school lists work?
You enter each school's booklist per grade, and parents select theirs to add the full set. We highlight which books are in stock and which need ordering, with an expected date.
